Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father Louis Hendricks:
According to media reports, a former altar boy accused Father Louis Hendricks of repeatedly abusing him when he was a teenager growing up in South Buffalo in the 1980s. He was later transferred to St. Patrick in Randolph, and remained there until he died in 1990.
In March 2018, Father Florian Hendricks’ name was included in the Diocese of Buffalo’s list of priests who “were removed from ministry, were retired, or left ministry after allegations of sexual abuse of a minor.” No information regarding the allegations was disclosed, however, the list includes deceased priests only if they have more than one allegation.
In August 2019, Father Hendricks was accused in three lawsuit filed under the NY Child Victims Act. One suit alleged sexual abuse of a boy ages 5 through 7, from 1964 to 1966 and then again from 1972 to 1974, when the boy was ages 13 through 16. Another suit claimed sexual abuse of a 10-year-old at St. Joseph’s Cathedral from 1968 to1969. The third suit claimed sexual abuse of a child ages 6 through 10 at St. Joseph’s Cathedral from 1967 through 1970.
