Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father Luis Jaramillo:

Father Luis Jaramillo was a Capuchin priest ordained in Colombia, South America in 1976, who served in multiple parishes in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles starting in 1982. According to media reports, he was accused of sexually abusing at least two people from approximately 1986 to 1988. He has been named in at least two civil lawsuits, including one lawsuit settled by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles in 2007.

Father Jaramillo had reportedly left the Archdiocese in 1988. In 1989, a Capuchin priest reported to the Vicar for Clergy that Father Jaramillo had been accused of sexually abusing two children while he was serving at St. Lawrence Brindisi and one child from 1988 to 1989 while serving at Our Lady of Angels in Oregon. He was then sent to Servants of the Paraclete in Jemez Springs for treatment. He was returned to Mexico because he was not responding to treatment.

Father Jaramillo reportedly worked in Mexico, Argentina, and the Philippines after his treatment at Servants of the Paraclete. As part of a 2007 $660 million settlement with 508 plaintiffs, the Archdiocese released the personnel files of 25 priests, including his in the fall of 2012. His name appeared on the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ list of clergy credibly accused of sex abuse of minors.

Jaramillo’s current whereabouts are unknown.
