Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Mark Liening:

Fr. Mark Liening was a member of the Franciscan Friars of the Province of Santa Barbara, part of what is formally known as the Order of Friars Minor.

In 2019, his name appeared on the Franciscans’ Santa Barbara Province list of clergy credibly accused of sexual abuse of minors. It noted allegations reported in 2007 of child sex abuse of a minor in 1943-1944.

During the time of the abuse, Liening was assigned to St. Mary’s in Phoenix, Arizona.

Information about the age/gender of his alleged victim/victims or the nature of the alleged sexual abuse is unknown.

In 2019, his name also appeared on the Diocese of Oakland, the Las Cruces Diocese, and the Diocese of Phoenix list of clergy credibly accused of sex abuse of minors.

Liening died in 1985.
