Summary of Abuse Allegations Against Father Michael Flanagan:

Father Michael Flanagan was ordained in the Diocese of Dallas and also worked in the Diocese of Rockville Centre. According to media reports, in 1999, he was forced to retire amid allegations that he had been arrested on charges of public lewdness involving adults in 1993 and 1997.

In 2002, after being accused of child sexual abuse in the early 1980s, the Diocese of Dallas suspended him from performing any duties as a retired priest. By May 2003, three more men came forward accusing Father Flanagan of child sexual abuse. The details of the allegations, including when and where the alleged abuse occurred, are unknown. At least one claim for sexual abuse has been settled out of court.

In January 2019, Father Flanagan’s name appeared on the Diocese of Dallas’ “List of All Priests with Credible Allegations of Sexual Abuse of Minors Since 1950”.
