Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Neil Ver’Schneider:

Father Neil Ver’Schneider entered the Jesuits in 1954 and was ordained to the priesthood of the Diocese of Buffalo in 1966. In June 2016, he celebrated and commemorated his 50th Jubilee of ordination. Father Neil Ver’Schneider served as Assistant Pastor, Chaplain, and Assistant Principal at the Gesu parish and Gesu School from 1989 until his death in January 2021.

According to media reports, in 2019, he was named in a lawsuit alleging that he sexually abused a 10-year-old girl at St. Ann’s in Buffalo, New York. The alleged abuse occurred while he served there from approximately 1973 to 1974. According to the lawsuit, the girl was repeatedly sexually abused on several occasions, until it stopped when she was 11 years old. Fr. Ver’Schneider used his position of authority and trust over her. He groomed the child by giving her special attention and befriending her family.
