Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Father Nicholas Fuhrmann:

Fr. Nicholas Fuhrmann became an ordained priest of the Benedictine Order in 1954 and worked in various parishes in the Diocese of Little Rock in Arkansas and in Texas. According to media reports, in 1994, a lawsuit was filed alleging that Fr. Fuhrmann abused a minor at Subiaco Academy in 1978-1979 in Arkansas. The suit was dismissed by the Court, ruling the statute of limitations expired. There was another complaint filed in 2002 alleging abuse in 1976-1979. The victim was 13 years old when he entered Subiaco Academy in Subiaco, Arkansas. The allegation stated that the victim was sexually abused on the pretext of giving him massages after boxing practice. According to media reports, because there was no response, the same person sued in 2005. The suit was later dismissed on SOL.

In 2002, Fuhrmann was permanently removed from active ministry. In 2005, he was working at Subiaco Abbey farm. In 2018, Fuhrmann was first publicly named and included on the Diocese of Little Rock’s list of credibly accused members of religious orders for whom allegations of sexual abuse of a minor have been admitted, substantiated, determined, or considered to be credible. To date, there are eight known victims that were noted on this list.

Fr. Fuhrmann died in 2019.
