Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Nicholas Reveles:

Father Nicholas Reveles worked for the Diocese of San Diego. He was a pianist, composer and member of the Fine Arts faculty at University of San Diego, Acting Director of the Diocesan Center for Liturgy and Prayer, and Director of Music for the Diocese of San Diego. According to media reports, in 1984, a man sued the San Diego’s Bishop, Leo T. Maher and the diocese itself over his expulsion from St. Francis Seminary in Southern California. The man claimed that he had been sexually assaulted by Father Reveles at the seminary. He also claimed he was harassed by other faculty priests, as well. The lawsuit settled out of court in April 1985 for approximately $23,000.

Reveles was a Jesuit priest for 16 years. He resigned from his status as a priest to live openly as a gay man.   He became acclaimed in the San Diego community for his musical compositions and opera lectures. In later years, he became certified as a somatic sex practitioner, involving trauma-informed touch and sex therapy for mostly gay men.

Nicholas Reveles died on March 1, 2023 at age 74.
