Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Patrick McNamara:

Father Patrick McNamara was ordained a priest for the Diocese of San Diego in 1980.  Until he left ministry in 1995 to get married, he served in multiple parishes in the Diocese of San Diego.

McNamara’s name is included on a list of dozens of priests credibly accused of child sexual abuse who served in the Diocese of San Diego. No specific information has been provided by the Diocese about the allegation(s) against McNamara, including the number of allegations, the age/gender of his alleged victims, or McNamara’s assignments at the time of the alleged abuse.

In October 2010, as part of a settlement with survivors of clergy sexual abuse, the Diocese of San Diego released his personnel file.

McNamara’s whereabouts since leaving priesthood are unknown, but it is believed he may be married and practicing law, as he reportedly obtained a law degree prior to his ordination as a priest.
