Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Father Patrick Walsh:
Fr. Patrick Walsh became an ordained priest for the Sacred Heart Order in 1952 and worked in the Diocese of Little Rock. In 2004, Walsh was suspended from all ministry by his religious Order. In 2018, Walsh was publicly named and included on the Diocese of Little Rock’s list of credibly accused clergy for whom allegations of sexual abuse of a minor have been admitted, substantiated, or determined or considered to be credible. It notes one known victim.
According to media reports, in 2019, a 60-year-old man told the archdiocese that Fr. Walsh abused him 50 years prior when he was an altar boy at St. Anthony’s in San Antonio, Texas. He said Walsh would fondle him and give him money repeatedly over a two-year period. He said he confronted Walsh 30 years prior and that the priest both denied the abuse and asked for forgiveness.
In 2020, Walsh was named on the Diocese of Covington and Diocese of Lexington’s list of clergy credibly accused of sexual abuse of a minor. The list notes Walsh was at Lexington Catholic High from 1971-1974 and that there are two, possibly three, known victims in Lexington, and that Walsh would take the children to a lake house.
Father Patrick Walsh died in 2011.
