Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Fr. Paul Hebert, Jr.:

Fr. Paul Hebert, Jr. was ordained a priest in 1959 who served in multiple parishes in the Diocese of Norwich.  According to media reports, in 2004, allegations surfaced that Herbert sexually abused a 13-year-old boy in 1973 while he was serving at St. Michael’s in Pawcatuck, Connecticut. The priest denied the allegations. The Diocese referred the matter to police and the Department of Children and Family. Fr. Hebert was named in a civil suit which settled in October 2007 for $170K. Another suit was filed in December 2008, alleging later abuse.

According to media reports, in 2016, Fr. Hebert was named in another lawsuit alleging he sexual abused a Pomfret altar boy hundreds of times from 1990-1996, beginning when the boy was 11 years old. Hebert allegedly photographed and videotaped the boy while in sex acts, lavished him with gifts, and plied him with alcohol. This lawsuit was settled in March 2019 for $900K.

Hebert’s name was included in the Diocese of Norwich’s 2019 list of clergy credibly accused with allegations of the substance of sexual abuse of a minor.

He died in 2010.
