Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father Paul Nguyen:

Fr. Paul Nguyen was born in Vietnam and ordained in Oslo, Norway. He left Norway in 1989, first to Rome, and then worked in the Diocese of San Bernardino. According to media reports, Nguyen was accused of sexually abusing a minor in January 1993, which at the time Nguyen was an associate pastor at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Riverside, California. The age/gender of the alleged victim is unknown. He was suspended and resigned as a parish pastor in September 1993. No action was taken by church officials. Police began an investigation but closed the case when the alleged victim’s parents demanded anonymity and preferred counseling to prosecution.

Nguyen left the country and went to Helsinki, where he worked for the Diocese of Finland. In 2003, he went to Sweden where he worked with a Vietnamese Mission. In August 2004, he returned to Norway, and then returned to the United States in 2005. In October 2018, his name was included in the Diocese of San Bernardino’s list of clergy credibly accused of child sexual abuse. His current whereabouts are unknown.
