Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Father Phillip Abinate:

In 2019, Fr. Phillip Abinate was included on a list of priests in the Diocese of Monterey who was named as being “credibly accused” of child sex abuse. Very little is known of Abinate’s activities within the church as the Diocese of Monterey has not released any information about the year Abinate was ordained nor his assignment history. In addition, information about the age/gender of his alleged victims, the nature of the alleged sexual abuse, or Abinate’s assignments at the time of the alleged abuse is unknown.

According to the media, it is noted that there was a report received in 2003 about multiple incidents that took place in 1970, 1971, and 1975. Fr. Phillip Abinate died in 2008.
