Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Fr. Pierre Celestin Cambiaire:

Fr. Pierre Celestin Cambiaire was first named publicly as a priest accused of sexual abuse on the Archdiocese of New Orleans’ list in November of 2018. The allegation made against him was noted to have been received in 1917. According to media reports, the alleged abuse was said to have occurred in the 1910’s. No further information was released about the gender/age of the victim, or the number of people who have come forward.

Pierre Celestin Cambiaire was removed from ministry in 1917. He later died in 1955.

His name also appears on the Baton Rouge diocese’s list in early 2019, as he worked in the territory in the New Orleans archdiocese that later became part of the Diocese of Baton Rouge. This list includes individuals who have been the subject of credible allegations of sexual abuse of one or more minors or vulnerable adults which allegedly occurred within the diocese.
