Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Raymond A. Prybis:
In 1992, Father Raymond Prybis was accused of exposing himself to a 14 or 15-year-old boy in the early 1980’s. The incident was said to have occurred at a Boston archdiocesan parish, and Prybis had the boy beat him with a belt while he was naked. The complaint was found in Prybis’s Boston personnel file and was publicly filed in the Ford vs. Law case.
Raymond Prybis worked in schools and parishes in 7 different dioceses in the states of New York, Florida, Washington DC, Massachusetts, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Minnesota. He was also a part of the religious order known as the Oblates of Mary Immaculate. In July of 2016, Prybis was reportedly living under supervision in a home from priests.
Raymond Prybis was included on the Diocese of Harrisburg’s list of accused clergy members and priests as of August 2018. In February 2020, the Diocese of Harrisburg filed for bankruptcy protection. As part of its bankruptcy, the Diocese of Harrisburg will be reviewing and paying claims for anyone sexually abused by diocesan priests and lay employees. This will likely include claims filed on behalf of anyone whose case may be beyond the statute of limitations. Although no allegations against Prybis occured in Pennsylvania, his name was included in the bankruptcy proceeding; falling under the category of cases where abuse was alleged to have occurred in another diocese.
