Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father Richard Lewkiewicz:

In October 2003, Fr. Richard Lewkiewicz was one of 24 priests of the Diocese of Brooklyn named in a civil lawsuit alleging child sexual abuse. According to media reports, Lewkiewicz raped a 7-year-old boy as he was leaving Blessed Sacrament Church in Jackson Heights in 1970. The boy had been practicing for his First Holy Communion when, Lewkiewicz stopped him, took him to the confessional, and raped him.

In November 2004, the Diocese of Brooklyn deemed the allegations against Lewkiewicz to have “no merit and no credibility”. The Diocesan Review Board recommended that he remain in ministry. He retired in 2017. As of 2019, he is believed to be working and living at Our Lady of Angels in Bay Ridge, New York.
