Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Fr. Robert Barnes:

Prior to his ordination to the priesthood, Fr. Robert Barnes was a member of the De La Salle Christian Brothers for thirty years. He was ordained in 1980, and throughout his career, served in multiple parishes in the Diocese of Norwich. A lifelong educator, in 1982, he was named principal of St. Bernard High School in Uncasville.

According to media reports, in February 2019, the Diocese of Norwich included Fr. Barnes’s name on its “list of clergy with allegations of substance of sexual abuse of a minor.” The details of the allegations, including the information about the age/gender of his alleged victim/victims, the nature of the alleged sexual abuse, and Barnes’s assignments at the time of the alleged abuse are unknown.

Fr. Barnes died in 2008.
