Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Roy Ronald:

On March 20th, 2018, the Diocese of Buffalo released an updated list of clergy who had been accused of child sex abuse. One name that appeared on the list for the first time was Father Roy K. Ronald. The list did not contain any specific information about the allegations or any of Father Ronald’s previous assignments. According to the Diocese, Roy Ronald retired in 1998 and died in 2013. It was also specified that a deceased priest would end up on the Diocese list if there was more than one allegation against him that was found credible. As of August 2019, one lawsuit has officially been filed against Roy Ronald through the Child Victims Act of “unpermitted sexual conduct.” It was alleged to have happened from 1982 until 1986, starting when the victim was just 11-years-old. The plaintiff was involved in several youth programs at St. Mary’s in Belmont where Father Ronald had also spent his time.
