Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Sean McMahon:

In early April of 2003, two Albany Diocese priests were accused of molesting several children in the 1970s and were subsequently removed from the positions as clergy members. The two priests who were named publicly were Rev. John F. Connolly and Fr. Sean McMahon.

Originally ordained in Ireland, McMahon came over to the Diocese of Albany in 1963. In 2003, an alleged victim came forward and reported to the Diocese that he has been sexually abused by McMahon in the 1970s. At the time of the report, McMahon was working at Sacred Heart in Cairo. Bishop Hubbard announced in April 2003 that McMahon had did not dispute or contest the allegation. As a result, McMahon was permanently barred from serving in any public capacity as a priest. No criminal charges were ever filed, due to the statute of limitations expiring in New York.

In 2018, McMahon was also named on the revised Diocese of Albany list of clergy members who have been credibly accused of sexual abuse and misconduct.

McMahon is listed as being deceased as of 2017.
