Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Father Stephen Speciale:

Ordained a Jesuit priest of the California Province, Fr. Stephen Speciale’s post-ordination ministry was short-lived. According to a 2004 lawsuit, Speciale was accused of having sexually abused an 11-year-old boy in 1985, on the grounds of Our Lady of Sorrows in Santa Barbara, California on at least two different occasions. Another lawsuit with sexual abuse accusations against him was settled in 1993 for $60K.

Speciale took a leave of absence in 1990 for reasons unknown. His name was included in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ list of priests accused of sexual misconduct involving minors and the Jesuits West Province list in 2018.

Speciale’s current whereabouts, his status as a priest, and whether he has access to children are unknown.
