Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Fr. Thomas Doyle:

Fr. Thomas Doyle was ordained a Marianist priest in 1974 and served in the Diocese of Norwich. According to media reports, in the 1994 civil suit, two twin brothers accused Doyle of abusing them over a 10-year period beginning in 1979 when the boys were 14 years old. At the time of the alleged abuse, Doyle was a pastor at Sacred Heart in Vernon, CT. Two more boys came forward to accuse Doyle of sexual abuse in 1994. The details of their allegations are unknown.

In February 2019, Fr. Doyle’s name was included on the Diocese of Norwich’s list of clergy credibly accused of sex abuse of minors under the heading “priests belonging to a religious order who served in the Diocese of Norwich.” The Marianists Province of New York publicly named Doyle on their credibly accused list in 2020. Doyle’s name also appears on the Archdiocese of Baltimore’s list of accused priests and brothers, which was released in 2020.  In April 2023, Maryland’s Attorney General released a report alleging 156 Catholic clergy members sexually abused at least 600 children over six decades. The report lists the names of the abusers, including Fr. Doyle.

Fr. Thomas Doyle died in 2007.
