Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Father Thomas L Kreiser:
In December 2018, Fr. Thomas L Kreiser was arrested due to an allegation that he sexually abused a 10-year-old girl a few months prior while working at St. Joseph’s in Bronxville, New York. Kreiser was subsequently criminally charged.
Kreiser faced three counts of first-degree sexual abuse, which are felonies, and three counts of endangering a child’s welfare, a misdemeanor. The Archdiocese of New York stated that Kreiser has “been indicted by a grand jury and has been removed from ministry pending the outcome of his criminal case”.
The charges against Kreiser were eventually dropped, as prosecutors were unable to prove wrongdoing beyond a reasonable doubt. However, in 2011, Kreiser pled guilty to stealing $25,000 from St. Gregory’s and was sentenced to five years’ probation and ordered to undergo gambling and substance abuse treatment.
Kreiser was referenced in the Archdiocese of New York’s 2019 List of Archdiocesan Clergy Credibly Accused of Sexual Abuse of a Minor or the Subject of Eligible IRCP Compensation Claims.
Kreiser’s status as a priest, current whereabouts, and whether he has access to children are unknown.
