Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Monsignor Thomas Neary:

A native of Ireland, Monsignor Thomas Neary was the first Chancellor of the Diocese of Monterey at its founding in 1967 and served as vicar general. In 2019, Fr. Thomas Neary name was included on the Diocese of Monterey’s 2019 List of Credibly Accused Clergy of Sexual Abuse. Although very little information was released regarding the priest an the abuse, the list does note that there was a report received in 2013 against Msgr. Thomas Neary in reference to sexual abuse that took place in 1958. Neary died in 1983.
