Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Thomas Squires:

Father Thomas Squires was ordained to the priesthood in 1975, and served in the Diocese of Ogdensburg. In November 2018, The Diocese of Ogdensburg released a list of 28 priests who were credibly accused of sexual misconduct with a minor or a vulnerable adult. The number of alleged victims or the time frame that the alleged abuse occurred was not disclosed. The list noted that Father Squires has been removed from ministry, but is still living.

According to media reports, in 2019, Father Squires was accused in a lawsuit filed under the New York Child Victims Act of sexually abusing a 14-year-old boy for over two years. The victim claimed that Fr. Squires began grooming him at age 11 when his mother was seriously ill with Multiple Sclerosis. The family attended St. John’s in Plattsburgh, where the priest was assigned at the time.

The victim was offered compensation through the Independent Reconciliation and Compensation Program, but refused.

Father Squires’ current whereabouts are unknown.
