Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father Vincent Sforza:
According to media reports, in 1975, Fr. Vincent Sforza left the priesthood and was laicized in January 1977. He was one of 24 priests named in a civil lawsuit, filed in October 2003, in which 27 people alleged child sexual abuse. One plaintiff claimed Sforza sexually abused him from 1967 to 1968, when he was a 14-year-old boy. The abuse took is said to have taken place in the priest’s room and in the corridor between the altar and his private room, while Sforza was serving at St. Rosalia’s in Brooklyn.
In February 2019, Sforza’s name appeared publicly on the Diocese of Brooklyn’s list of clergy credibly accused of sex abuse of minors. He died in February 2010.
