Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Mr. Jim Gross:

Mr. Jim Gross was a lay teacher, and basketball coach in the Blue Mountain School District in the Diocese of Allentown. According to media reports, he was accused of sexual abuse occurring in 1976 at St. Patrick’s in Pottsville, PA. The abuse was initially reported to the Provincial of the Carmelites in 2007, stating that both Gross and Fr. Connell sexually assaulted the victim, and then released in the 2018 PA Grand Jury Report. He also said that Fr. Timothy Johnson would beat him when he wanted to tell the authorities 40 years prior.

According to media reports, Gross was involved in two other sexual abuse claims, one in 2007 while working at Saint Francis in PA, and another in 1990 while at Schuylkill County Employment and Training Program in Pottsville. Gross was arrested for deviate sexual intercourse, indecent assault, corruption of a minor and harassment, but was released on $30,000 bail.

In the summer of 1984, Gross resigned from teaching at St. Francis School in Minersville. His current whereabouts are unknown.
