According to media reports, in October 2018, the Diocese of Erie announced it received an allegation of sexual abuse involving Frank Mariella, Sr. The Diocese did not release any details about the allegation, such as the age/gender of the victim, the nature of the misconduct alleged, or Mariella’s affiliation with the Diocese of Erie at the time of the alleged abuse. All the Diocese of Erie has said is that its internal review board is now investigating.
