Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Michael Kman:
In 2014, Michael Kman Jr., 55, was charged by East Pennsboro Township police with felony counts of rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault, sexual assault and unlawful contact with a minor, according to court documents. Kman was additionally charged with misdemeanor counts of indecent assault and corruption of minors. Kman was sent to Cumberland County Prison on $1 million bail.
Four years prior, Kman was a coach for the Catholic Youth Organization program at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Enola, PA when the state police accused him in 2010 of offering PIAA referees up to $2,500 to fix the outcomes of games. The police said Kman sent the referees numerous text messages requesting they officiate certain basketball games and favor a specific team.
The Catholic Diocese of Harrisburg suspended Mr. Kman from coaching. It released a statement, “In light of the charges filed, the Diocese of Harrisburg is suspending the Youth Protection Clearances that allow Mr. Kman to be involved with youth and youth-serving activities in any parish or school in the diocese, pending resolution of the investigation.”
In 2018, Michael Kman pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, insurance fraud, and conspiracy. Kman was sentenced to 30 years in prison in Delaware.
