Summary of Abuse Allegations against Monsignor George Murdock:

Msgr. George Murdock was ordained a priest in the Archdiocese of New York in 1917. He spent a significant amount of time as Chaplain in the US Navy and West Point Military Academy.

According to media reports, in June 2019, a priest of the Archdiocese of New York disclosed that he had been sexually abused by Murdock as a minor boy in the late 1950s. The survivor also alleged that at least eight other minor boys were sexually abused by Murdock.

Initially, Murdock’s name was not included on the original Archdiocese of New York’s list of clergy accused of child sexual abuse released in April 2019. Only after the priest survivor came forward with his allegations, was his name added to its 2019 list. The details of the allegations, including when and where the abuse occurred, are unknown. Claims against Murdock are eligible to be settled through the Independent Reconciliation and Compensation Program (IRCP).
