Summary of Abuse Allegations against Msgr. Manuel Ontiveros Sanchez:
Msgr. Manuel Ontiveros Sanchez was ordained a priest in Spain in 1954. He started work in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles in 1971 and was incardinated in 1976. According to media reports, he was named in a lawsuit alleging that he brutally raped an 8-year-old boy from approximately 1978 to 1981, while he worked at Sacred Heart in Pomona. The Archdiocese investigated the claim but found the evidence did not support the charges, though the case was later included in a 2007 $660 million settlement.
Monsignor Sanchez consistently denied the allegations and was allowed to continue in his service until his removal from ministry in 2007. He reportedly retired in 2000 and returned to Granada, Spain. His name was included in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ list of clergy credibly accused of sex abuse of minors. As of 2016, it is believed he was living in Rancho Palos Verde, CA. His current whereabouts are unknown.
