Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Monsignor Paul Conway:

Msgr. Paul Conway was ordained to the priesthood in 1938, and served in multiple parishes in the Diocese of Shreveport. According to media reports, in 2019, he was publicly named on the Diocese of Alexandria’s disclosure list of priests credibly accused of child sexual abuse. The list notes that the allegation of sexual abuse of girls dating back to 1956 was brought before the Permanent Review Board in 2004. After an investigation, the allegations that Msgr. Conway sexually abused female minors was found credible. The Diocese of Shreveport paid settlements to Conway’s victims in 2005 and 2017, although it has not disclosed details of the amounts.

Prior to the founding of the Diocese of Shreveport in 1986, churches in the Shreveport area were under the jurisdiction of the Diocese of Alexandria-Shreveport. According to church protocol, the files of accused clergy members remain with the Diocese of Alexandria.

Msgr. Paul Conway died in 1996.
