According to media reports, with over 65 years of religious life, Sr. Giovanna Marie Marcoccia was accused in a lawsuit filed in June 2020 of sexually abusing a minor in 1964-1965 while assigned to St. Joseph in Green Island, NY. No information on the allegation regarding the age/gender of the victim was given. Charges are currently under investigation with the Diocese of Albany and law enforcement. As of 2018, Sister Marcoccia is still active with the Diocese of Honolulu at Sacred Heart School in Honolulu, HI.
