Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Adalbert Kowalczyk:
Father Adalbert Kowalczyk was ordained a Congregation of the Resurrection order priest in 1938, who served in multiple parishes in the Diocese of San Diego. According to media reports, he was accused of molesting seven girls at the Resurrection Academy in Fontana, California. One victim claimed she was abused “regularly and repeatedly” beginning at age 9.
The suit also alleged that the church “was aware of his propensity and his capacity to abuse children, particularly young girls, and took no steps to prevent it.” One of the female victims tried to file a lawsuit in 1993, but it was dismissed due to the statute of limitations at the time.
Father Kowalczyk died in July 1972. His name appears on the list of priests with credible accusations against them released by the San Diego diocese in March 2007.
His personnel file was also released to the public on October 25th, 2010.
