Summary of Abuse Allegations against Brother Alan Scheneman:
Br. Alan Scheneman was a member of the Salesians of Don Bosco order. In December 2013, he was accused in a lawsuit of repeated sexual abuse of a 15-year-old boy at the Salesian minor seminary in Goshen, New York. The alleged abuse included masturbating the boy’s penis skin-on-skin. The Salesians confirmed that a monetary settlement was reached. Scheneman reportedly left the order in the 1980s. He is believed to have lived in Rancho Cucamonga, California until his death.
In 2021, a lawsuit was filed that claimed Scheneman allegedly abused a boy who was attending a summer camp in the early 1980s in Newton. Scheneman was teaching photography at the camp, according to the lawsuit. He is listed on the Salesian’s 2021 List of Clergy Credibly Accused of Sexual Abuse of a Minor.
Scheneman died in 2009.
