Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Angel Mariano:

In 1998, Fr. Angel Mariano was serving as an associate pastor at Most Holy Trinity in San Jose, California. He was arrested after he posed as a 25-year-old Hawaiian woman arranging to meet up with 2 teenage boys. During this meetup, he was caught in a sexual act with a 17-year-old boy in Campbell, California. He was convicted and served 5 months in jail.

Mariano completed a sex offender treatment program at St. Luke’s Institute in Maryland and became a registered sex offender. He went on to live at the Sacred Heart Jesuit Center in Los Gatos, California. In 2002, he was accused of being amongst several priests and brothers who sexually abused developmentally disabled workers there in the late 1990s and early 2000s. In 2002, Mariano was living in a Jesuit residence at Santa Clara University and he reportedly died the same year.

In 2018, Mariano was included on the Jesuits West Province list named as being credibly accused of child sex abuse. In 2018, the Diocese of San Jose also included Mariano in its list of clergy with credible allegations of sexual abuse of children.
