Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Fr. Charles Many:
Fr. Charles Many was ordained a priest of the Society of Saint Edmund in 1974, who served in multiple parishes in the Diocese of Norwich. According to media reports, in 1986, Many was removed from his position as associate pastor of St. Lawrence Church after being accused of sexually abusing a young parishioner.
According to media reports, in 1994, he was accused of sexually abusing two altar boys while assigned to Sacred Heart in Groton, Connecticut sometime between 1978-1981. In 2015, he was named in a lawsuit alleging child sexual abuse which was ultimately settled for $900K. In 2019, another lawsuit was filed claiming Fr. Many sexually abused a 7-year-old boy during confession.
In 2019, Many’s name was included on multiple dioceses lists of clergy credibly accused of child sexual abuse including the Diocese of Norwich list the Diocese of Burlington list, as well as on the Edmundites list.
Many’s current whereabouts and whether he has access to children are unknown.
