Summary of Abuse Allegations against Brother Dave E. Johnson:
Brother Dave E. Johnson was a Franciscan priest. According to an archdiocesan report, he was accused of sexually abusing at least two children from 1978 to 1979 at St. Anthony Seminary and another location. He has been named in at least five civil lawsuits alleging child sexual abuse.
In May 2012 , Brother Johnson’s personnel file was released. It noted he was laicized in 2001. In 2016, his name appeared on the Archdiocese of Seattle’s list of clergy credibly accused of sex abuse of minors. His name also appeared on the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ list.
In 2019, his name was included on the Franciscans’ Santa Barbara Province list of clergy credibly accused of sex abuse of minors. It noted reports in 1993, 2006, 2007 and 2009 of child sexual abuse from 1978 to 1982, and that he left the order 2001. His name also appeared on the Diocese of Oakland’s 2019 list of clergy credibly accused of child sex abuse.
As of 2016, Brother Johnson was believed to be living in Hurricane, Utah. His current whereabouts are unknown.
