Ms. Denise (Geitner) Myers
Diocese of Erie
Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Ms. Denise (Geitner) Myers:
Denise (Geitner) Myers, who was fired from her job as principal at Greensburg Central Catholic High School in 2013 after the Diocese of Greensburg discovered “financial irregularities,” is listed on the Diocese of Erie’s public list of laypeople credibly accused of sexual misconduct of an undisclosed type.
According to a statement from the Diocese of Erie, “The diocese can confirm that it is aware of credible evidence independently gathered over the years by diocesan and independent investigative personnel indicating that Mrs. Denise J. Myers violated the child-protection policies and expectations applicable during her prior employment within the Erie Diocese, rendering her unsuitable for any future employment involving children in the Erie Diocese’s judgment.” It did not provide any other specifics, including if Ms. Myers was ever accused of inappropriate sexual contact herself. According to the Erie Diocese, it was not aware of the “extent” of the misconduct until after Myers left her job as a teacher at Elk County Christian High School in 2001.
Neither the Erie Diocese nor the Greensburg Diocese have offered any additional information about the nature of the violations she is alleged to have committed, nor has the Diocese of Erie offered an explanation why that information was not shared with the Greensburg Diocese during Myers’ tenure as a principal.
According to the Diocese of Erie, Myers still lives in Greensburg, Pennsylvania.
