In 2019, the Archdiocese of New York received a report that Fr. Edward M Barry engaged in inappropriate conduct with a minor in the 1980s when he served at Holy Rosary in Hawthorne, New York. No other details regarding the victim’s age or gender have been released.

According to media reports, Barry was placed on administrative leave pending the investigation. The Archdiocese announced in June 2020 that the allegations were found credible and substantiated. Barry was subsequently permanently removed from the ministry.
