Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Msgr. Edward Reardon: Monsignor

Msgr. Edward Reardon was ordained a priest in 1931, who served in multiple parishes in the Diocese of Norwich. He was pastor at St. James in Manchester for 13 years before his retirement in 1976. According to media reports, in 2004, he was named in a civil suit alleging that he sexually abused a boy in 1971 and 1972, when he was 15 and 16 years old. The abuse is said to have occurred at St. James Church. The claims against Reardon were included in the 2005 $22 million settlement between the archdiocese and 43 plaintiffs alleging child sexual abuse by 14 priests.

In 2019, Reardon’s name was included on the Diocese of Norwich list of clergy credibly accused of child sexual abuse. He was also included on the Archdiocese of Hartford list.

Reardon died in 1991 before the claim was received in 2004.
