In February 2002, the Diocese of Scranton received a report from an adult man who alleged he was sexually abused by Father Lawrence Weniger in the 1960s while he served as an altar boy. In June 2002, a second man reported he was abused by Weniger during the same time period (1960s). In late 2011, Catholic Social Services informed the Chancery that an adult male reported he was molested by Weniger in the 1960s as a child.  The man was receiving counseling through CSS and disclosed it to his therapist in a session.
