According to the Archdiocese of Los Angeles at least two survivors have come forward alleging child sexual abuse by Father Dorian Rowe, between 1967 and 1979. He was named in a 2003 civil lawsuit alleging he sexually abused a child, from 1967 to 1968, while he worked at St. Catherine in Reseda. His name was was included in the 2004 Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ list of priests accused of child sexual abuse. It noted two accusers, with incidents from 1967 to 1979. He died in 1991.

Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father Efrain Rozo Rincon:

Father Efrain Rozo Rincon was an extern priest visiting from Colombia who worked briefly in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. According to media reports, at least one survivor has come forward alleging child sexual abuse by him in approximately 1969, while he worked at St. Clement in Santa Monica.  He left the Archdiocese shortly after in 1969.

In February 2006, he confessed under oath to sexually abusing his nephew and showing him porn from 1967 to 1969 while working in an L.A. parish and studying at Loyola Marymount. He also confessed to sexually abusing a 14-year-old seminarian in Colombia. 

When the taped confession was broadcast in September 2006 in Bogota, the seminarian claimed that Rozo had raped him, and that other priests and a bishop had abused him too. In 2007, the Colombian church tribunal cleared Father Rozo Rincon on canonical statute of limitation grounds, commending his youth leadership.

Father Rozo Rincon has been named in at least one civil lawsuit. His name was included in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ list of priests accused of child sexual abuse. His current whereabouts are unknown.

Father William Roper was a member of the Claretian religious order. According to media reports, in March 2002, he was named in a lawsuit alleging that he sexually abused an 8-or 9-year old girl from 1968 to 1969. His name is included on the Diocese of Gallup’s 2014 list of clerics credibly accused of sex abuse of minors. His name is also included in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ list of priests accused of child sexual abuse. It is believed he died, but the date of his death is unknown.

Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father James R. Robinson:

Father James R. Robinson was ordained in England to the Archdiocese of Birmingham. According to media reports, he has been accused of child sexual abuse by multiple people from 1959, before he entered seminary, to 1983, during his formation as well as post-ordination while serving at various churches and parishes in the United Kingdom. Some Of the boys were as young as 10. 

In 1985, a letter was sent from the Archdiocese of Birmingham, requesting that Father Robinson be externed to the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. The letter stated that their “immediate reason” for his leave was that he had recently met again “a man with whom he had an unwholesome relationship about 13 years ago.” He arrived in California later that year and worked as a priest in five Los Angeles parishes until he was laicized in 1993. 

In 2009, Father Robinson was extradited from the United States to England to stand trial for 22 different offenses against six boys. In 2010, the Birmingham Crown Court sentenced him to 21 years in prison. It is believed he is currently incarcerated in England. From the time of his laicization in 1993 to his extradition in 2009, whereabouts are unknown.

Father Donald P. Roemer, (aka Father Pat) oversaw a parish of several thousand families during his career. According to the media reports, at least 16 people have made child sexual abuse allegations against him between 1962 and 1981. Ranked #8 on the Archdiocese’s list of top 10 abusers, he was arrested in 1981 on child sexual abuse charges. 

Court documents show that he confessed to sexually abusing 30 children over an 11 year period. He was sentenced to two years in a state run mental hospital, ten years’ probation, and had to register as a sex offender. Father Roemer has been named in at least three child sexual abuse lawsuits. He was laicized in 2006. His name was included in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ list of priests accused of child sexual abuse. In 2010, it is believed he had been living in Anaheim, CA.

Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father Loren Riebe:

According to media reports, in 2008, the Archdiocese of Los Angeles began notifying dioceses across the country that it had multiple credible allegations of child sexual abuse in the early 1970s against Father Loren Riebe. He was also accused of  sexual conduct with women, and reportedly had issues with alcohol and substance abuse. 

In 1975, Father Riebe spent the next 21 years working as a priest in Mexico until he was expelled from the country in 1995, amidst allegations that he had molested teenage boys. From 1996 to 1997, he briefly worked for the Diocese of Phoenix, which published a Community Notification Statement in 2008, stating that he had been accused by multiple people of child sexual abuse in Los Angeles, from approximately 1970 to 1975.  

In 1997, Father Riebe went back to Arizona to run a foundation and present mission appeals at various parishes. He was incardinated into the Diocese of San Cristobal de las Casa, Chiapas, Mexico in 2008. He was permitted to stay at St. Timothy’s Catholic Community rectory in Mesa, AZ in 2009 and in 2011, despite warnings from the Diocese of Phoenix.

Father Riebe’s name is included on the Diocese of Phoenix’s list of “Names of priests and deacons from other dioceses who may no longer serve in the Diocese of Phoenix due to an accusation of sexual misconduct with a minor.” As of 2016, it is believed he was living in Los Angeles until his death in August 2018.

Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Father Carlos Rene Rodriguez:

Fr. Carlos Rodriguez was accused by at least six people of child sexual abuse from 1984 to 1994 and named in at least five civil lawsuits since. In 1987, Fr. Rodriguez confessed to sexually abusing a 16-year-old boy. In 1988, Fr. Rodriguez was sent to St. Luke Institute, an institution known for treating priests accused of child sexual abuse. In 1993, Fr. Rodriguez left the Vincentian community and the Archdiocese of Los Angeles removed his faculties as a priest. He was laicized in 1998.

In 2004, Fr. Rodriguez was convicted of sexually abusing two boys while working at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Santa Paula in the 1990s and was sentenced to eight years in prison. In January 2008, Fr. Rodriguez was released from prison on parole.  As of 2013, Fr. Rodriguez residing at a private residence in Huntington Beach and registered as a sex offender in California. In 2016, Rodriguez was found ministering at a church in Los Angeles with no affiliation to the Archdiocese of Los Angeles; he was using the name, Carlos Ramirez. He was removed after the church found out about his history.

In a lawsuit filed in October 2018, Fr. Rodriguez was accused again of sexually abusing two minor boys (aged 7 and 12) at Our Lady of Guadalupe in the 1990s. The lawsuit alleged that Fr. Rodriguez was working at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Riverside, CA, in the early 1990s. Fr. Rodriguez was included in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ list of priests accused of sexual misconduct involving minors. Fr. Rodriguez’ current whereabouts and whether he has access to children are unknown.

Fr. Nicholas Reina was a Salesian Priest that was accused of sexually abusing a minor in 2000. The alleged abuse was reported to the Los Angeles Archdiocese in 2018, and he was removed from ministry. Fr. Reina was named publicly as accused on the Los Angeles Archdiocese’s 2018 list of Clergy Credibly Accused of Sexual Abuse of a Minor. The report shows that the Salesians had received an allegation in 2000 that Reina molested a child in 1975, prior to ordination. In 2012, an adult told the order Reina made an “improper advance” toward him in 2000.

Fr. Terrence Reilly was a Dominican priest with ties to the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, Archdiocese of San Francisco, and Diocese of Oakland. At least four people have accused Fr. Reilly of child sexual abuse, and in 2003, he was named in a civil lawsuit.

In 2002, a victim reported child sexual abuse by Fr. Reilly while he was a student at Daniel Murphy High School in 1976. Fr. Reilly has also been accused of child sexual abuse at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Los Angeles. Fr. Reilly was at St. Albert’s Priory in Oakland for a time after 2003, a location where many accused priests were housed. Fr. Reilly was included in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ list of priests accused of sexual misconduct involving minors. Fr. Reilly died in 2016.
