Summary of Abuse Allegations against Brother Donald DuFour:

Brother Donald DuFour was a member of the Holy Cross Fathers Order from approximately 1977 to 1979. Throughout his career, he served in multiple parishes in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. He worked in education as a counselor, as well as a religion teacher. According to a 2005 Archdiocese of Los Angeles report, he was named in a civil lawsuit alleging he sexually abused a minor boy from 1977 to 1979, while he was assigned to Rancho San Antonio Boys Home in Chatsworth.

In 2005, Brother DuFour’s name appeared on the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ Addendum of clergy credibly accused of sex abuse of minors. It is believed he may be living in New York as he often visits Holy Cross School in Louisiana, which is his alma-mater. His current status as a religious brother and whether he has access to children are unknown.

Summary of Abuse Allegations against Brother Thomas Duffin:

Brother Thomas Duffin joined the Congregation of Christian Bothers in 1961. He served in multiple parishes including in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. He was principal at St. Patrick’s High School in Vallejo from approximately 1978 to 1982. He also taught religion for 17 years at St. Laurence High School in Burbank, Illinois where he was accused of sexually abusing at least three minor students. 

According to media reports, in 2012, the Irish Christian Brothers filed for bankruptcy. In 2013, Br. Duffin was named in three child sexual abuse lawsuits that alleged he sexually abused students while he worked at Damien Memorial High School in Honolulu, Hawaii, in the late 1960s.

Br. Duffin is included in the Christian Brothers’ list of “current, former and deceased brothers who were identified in at least two (2) sexual abuse claims filed as proofs of claim in the bankruptcy matter In re: The Christian Brothers’ Institute, et al.” Br. Duffin died in 1999.

Father Donald Duplessius was ordained a Servite priest in 1961 and served in multiple parishes in the Archdiocese of Los AngelesAccording to a 2005 Archdiocese of Los Angeles report, he was accused of sexually abusing at least one child in a civil lawsuit from 1968 to 1970 while serving at Servite High School in Anaheim. In 2018, Father Duplessius’ name appeared on the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ list of clergy credibly accused of sex abuse of minors. His whereabouts from 1977 until his death in 2018 are unknown.

Summary of Abuse Allegations against Fr. Joseph Dunne:

Fr. Joseph Dunne was an extern priest visiting from Glasgow, Scotland who briefly worked in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. According to the Archdiocese, in 2004, at least one survivor came forward alleging child sexual abuse by Fr. Dunne in 1993. The Archdiocese confirmed in January 2019, that his alleged victim was a girl and that her parents reported the abuse immediately after it happened in January 1993. 

According to media reports, Fr. Dunne had reportedly been working without permission since summer 1992 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Newhall. Police did not press charges. The Archdiocese contacted the Diocese of Glasgow, and learned that there were previous allegations against him. 

In 2018, Fr. Dunne’s name was included in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ list of priests accused of child sexual abuse. 

Dunne is alive and believed to be living in Tullamore, Ireland.

Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father Albert Joseph Duggan:

Father Albert Joseph Duggan was ordained a priest in 1932, and served in multiple parishes in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, serving as a priest for more than 40 years. According to media reports, he was accused in a 2001 report to the Los Angeles police of sexually abusing a 12-year old boy. In November 2003, he was also accused in a civil lawsuit of sexually abusing a minor boy from 1963 to 1967 at the same parish. A third allegation accusing Father Duggan of child sex abuse from 1955 to 1960 at St. Frances was also reported. 

In July 2007, the 2001 complainant was included in the $660 million settlement with more than 500 victims of clergy sexual abuse from the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. In January 2013, Father Duggan’s personnel file “proffer” was released which implied that he was not Father Duggan’s only victim, and that church officials knew he was an abuser. 

In 2018, Father Duggan’s name was included in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ list of priests accused of child sexual abuse.

He retired in 1977 and died in 1979.
