In 2010, the Diocese of Monterey revoked Fr. Ron Wiecek’s priestly faculties due to allegations of sexual misconduct. Fr. Wiecek was sent to Ohio to his religious order’s headquarters, the Holy Order of the Most Precious Blood. It was alleged that, while serving as a teacher in the Diocese of Santa Rosa in the 1970s, Wiecek had spanked a young boy. No further details have been released.

Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Father Bernie Ward:

According to media reports, in 2007, Fr. Bernie Ward was indicted for obtaining and sending child pornography over the internet. In 2008, two women publicly stated that Ward had unwelcome “sexual contact” with them when they were students at Ursuline High School in the 1970s.

Ward had been a priest of the Society of the Precious Blood from 1977-1979, became a husband and father of four, and a popular radio personality. He claimed to have had the child porn for research purposes. Ward pled guilty in 2008 to one count, and he was sentenced to more than seven years in prison. He was released from jail in 2014. His name is listed on the Diocese of Santa Rosa’s 2019 list of Credibly Accused Clergy of Sexual Abuse to Minors.

Fr. Jerome “Jerry” Stack was a member of the Precious Blood Fathers since 1966 and was ordained to the priesthood in 1972. Over the years, his ministry has included teaching high school and college, chaplaincy in a state psychiatric facility in California, and six years as secretary-general of his religious congregation in Rome. In 2020, Fr. Stack was accused of child sexual abuse and was removed from ministry. The details of the sexual abuse allegations, including when and where the alleged abuse occurred, or the victim’s age/gender, are unknown.

Fr. Gary M. Luiz was a member of the Society of the Precious Blood religious order. In 2003, Fr. Luiz was named in a civil lawsuit alleging that he sexually abused a young boy while serving at St. Edward Catholic Church from 1980 to 1986. The Diocese of Oakland claims they did not learn about the allegations until 1990, after which he was immediately placed on leave.

Fr. Luiz later earned a degree in Canon Law, worked in a missionary office, and worked at a Berkeley monastery as of 2005. He is on the Oakland Diocese’s list of Clergy Credibly Accused of Sexual Abuse to a Minor.
