Father Kolbe Moreno was a priest of the Norbertine Order in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. His name was quietly added, along with 23 others, to the Los Angeles Archdiocese’s Final Addendum to the Report to the People of God in 2013. The details of the sexual abuse allegations, including when and where the alleged abuse occurred, or the victim’s age/gender, are unknown.

Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Father John Kohnke:

Fr. John Kohnke was a Norbertine priest who worked at several parishes in California, Montana, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Texas. In 1974, Fr. Kohnke was arrested in California for sexually abusing a child from 1973 to 1974. He was also arrested twice for lewd behavior in public restrooms.

Following his arrests, Fr. Kohnke was permitted to continue working as a priest in Wisconsin. In 1990, a mother alleged that Fr. Kohnke had sexually abused her son in the 1970s. Fr. Kohnke has been named in at least one civil lawsuit. He was named publicly on the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ list of priests accused of sexual misconduct involving minors. He was also included in the Diocese of Helena’s list of priests against whom sexual abuse accusations have been made and on St. Norbert Abbey list in 2019. Fr. Kohnke died in 1987.
