Summary of Abuse Allegations against Monsignor Patrick O’Toole:
In 1960, Msgr. Patrick O’Toole was ordained as a priest at All Hallows College, Drumcondra, Dublin, Ireland. Shortly after, he was assigned to the Diocese of Brooklyn. In 1986, he was elevated to Monsignor.
According to media reports, at least one man says that O’Toole sexually abused him between 1979 and 1988 while O’Toole worked as a priest in the Brooklyn Diocese. In 2009, O’Toole retired to Pembroke Pines, Florida.
In September 2019, O’Toole was accused in a lawsuit filed under the NY Child Victims Act, of sexually abusing another man, who says he was abused while O’Toole’s altar boy. He says the abuse occurred over a 9-year period in the 1980s at St. Ann’s in Brooklyn, beginning when the boy was 9 years old.
