Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father Patrick H. Martin:
Father Patrick H. Martin had both an administrative role and disciplinary role at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs church and grammar school. He was known as the “enforcer” and the “dean of discipline.” He died in 1983.
According to media reports, in February 2004, he was accused in a lawsuit of sexually abusing three altar boys in the sacristy at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs in Manhattan. The alleged abuse occurred from 1955 through 1961, and started when the boys were at ages 10, 11, and 13. One alleged victim claimed there were more than 200 incidents over a five year period. Two of the boys were brothers. The suit claimed other altar boys were abused, as well.
In April 2019, Father Martin’s name appeared on the Archdiocese’s of New York’s list of clergy credibly accused of sex abuse of minors. The claims against him are eligible for the Independent Reconciliation and Compensation Program (IRCP).
