Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father Patrick Keane:

According to media reports, in 1994, a man told church officials that Father Patrick Keane repeatedly sexually abused him as a teenager in the rectory of St. Mary Magdalen in the early 1980s. Father Keane was an associate at St. Catherine of Siena at the time of the allegation. He was removed from ministry, sent for treatment to Villa St. John Vianney, a church-run treatment center for sexual disorders in Downingtown, PA. He subsequently left the priesthood.

Father Keane admitted the abuse under oath in a 1999 deposition. The Archdiocese did not apologize or notify other parishes to see if there were other victims. A civil lawsuit involving the allegations was settled in 2003.

In November 2018, his name appeared publicly on the Archdiocese of New Orleans’ list of clergy credibly accused of sex abuse of minors.
