Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Father Patrick McNamara:

Fr. Patrick McNamara was a Jesuit priest in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and San Diego. In 2003, Fr. McNamara was accused of sexually abusing a child from 1961 to 1965 while serving at Loyola University and has been named in one civil lawsuit alleging child sexual abuse.

It is believed that Fr. McNamara left the Jesuit order in 1968 after he earned his Ph.D. in sociology from UCLA. He reportedly took a job as an assistant professor at the University of Texas. Fr. McNamara died in 2001. He was named in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ 2004 list of priests accused of sexual misconduct involving minors.

Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Patrick McNamara: 

On March 30th, 2007, the Roman Catholic Diocese of San Diego released the names of 38 priests who have been accused of sexual abuse. One name that was added was Father Patrick Carl McNamara. He received a law degree prior to his ordination, and in 1993, he took a sabbatical for his studies. He took an official leave of absence in 1994 and then left priesthood officially the following year.

No specific information has been found about the alleged abuse. In October 2010, as part of a settlement with survivors of clergy sexual abuse, the Diocese of San Diego released his personnel file.

His current whereabouts since leaving priesthood are unknown, but he is listed as being married since then.
