Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father Paul Nogaro:
According to media reports, in August 2019, a man in his early 60s, filed a lawsuit under the Child Victims Act accusing Father Paul Nogaro of raping and molesting him on multiple occasions when he was age 11 in the 1960s and 1970s. Father Nogaro, pastor of St. Stephen’s on Grand Island denied the allegations.
Three other priests and two teachers were also named in the lawsuit as molesters. According to the victim, the abuse occurred at St. Mary of Sorrows church and school and at the old Bishop Fallon High School in Buffalo. Father Nogaro was immediately placed on administrative leave, pending an investigation.
According to media reports, in January 2020, the Diocese of Buffalo announced that its internal review of the allegation determined that the allegation was not credible after the accuser did not participate in the internal employment investigation. As such, Father Nogaro returned to active ministry. He remains the subject of the ongoing lawsuit.
