Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Peter Tan Van Le:
In 2013, the Diocese of Charlotte received allegations of sexual abuse against Father Peter Van Le. According to the Diocese, Le was accused of molesting multiple minors at St. Joseph Vietnamese Catholic Church in Charlotte.
A subsequent law enforcement investigation identified even more victims. Authorities did not prosecute Le, but the Diocese’s Lay Review Board found the allegations against him credible. In August of 2013, the diocese removed Le’s priestly faculties and alerted his home diocese of Vinh Long, Vietnam, where he had retired in 2011 because of ill health.
He was officially removed from ministry in 2013. Le is believed to be residing in Vietnam.
